Defining Criminological Psychology

  • Criminological psychology is a specialised area that uses psychological knowledge to help understand crime and antisocial behaviour.
  • It investigates the causes of crime by examining social and personality issues that can be contributory factors.
  • It also studies the legal aspects of crimes, such as courtroom procedures and policing techniques.
  • It also looks at the issues related to the judicial system and the way criminals are convicted, such as the problems with eyewitness testimony.
